Ultimate Report on Frisbee teams

The mens Frisbee squad, seeded 23rd out of 30 entering last weekends tournament in Baltimore, Maryland, finished 12th. It kicked off the tournament with a 12-11 upset of Rutgers followed by a 13-12 squeaker over St. Marys.

Over the course of the first day, the Judges went 2-2, falling to Columbia and Ohio State.

In the second day the Judges did not have the same fortune, going 0-3 against all higher seeded teams.

A 3-4 tournament garnered optimism from some Brandeisians.

Very good tournament because we got to experiment with a new offense we had practiced all winter, Jacob Taylor 08 said.

The cutters, those who get open to catch the disk, tri-captain Matt Niedzwiecki 07 and Jeremy Kurtz 06 performed well. The same can be said of starting handlers Adam Tornheim 06 and Avraham Wachs-Cashman '08.

The girls 2-5 tournament run also had its highlights, as they knocked off St.Marys and Goucher College.

Ally Young 09, Jenna Rosenbloom 09, as well as grad student Rachel Kane had solid outings.

Coming in 11th out of 15 teams didnt disappoint Ariel Plotkin '06.
We did better than expected, Plotkin said.

Plotkin added, We had a great time, thats important about ultimate.

Up next for the womens team is the Yale Tournament on April 1st. Also on tap for the Frisbee slingers is the Alumni game on April 30th.
