MSoccer squeaks out a tie

With time dwindling and the rain starting to pick up, Scott Zackaroff 07 managed to tie the score at 1-1 and ended up forcing a draw two overtime frames later. This combined with their 3-0 drubbing of Endicott back on Sept. 2nd, has given the mens team a solid 1-0-1 mark for the season.
Babson kicked off the scoring in the 10th minute of play when Derek Lossi 07 headed home the goal on a series of passes beginning with a corner kick.
Weve been working on that, Coach Mike Coven explained, The last two or three years we have had the same problems;

we just concede goals on corner kicks. We worked on it and we were three minutes into the game when they had a corner kick. You know two guys actually headed the ball and the rest of the guys just stood around and that was it.
From there Brandeis launched a furious effort, outshooting Babson 8-3 in the second half, but to no avail until the 78th minute. On a corner kick Evan Duval 08 kicked the ball out to Ben Premo 09 who in turn headed it to Senior Captain Scott Zackaroff 07 who scored the equalizer.
We were putting on a lot of pressure in the second half and just punched it in there, and finally, just finished. Zackaroff told the Hoot afterwards.
As weather conditions worsened, the players grew wet and fatigued. Both teams fought hard to a stand still after two overtime frames. Neither side was able to work up a consistant rush, save for the 107th minute when Babsons Garrett Bates 08 delivered a hard shot that was deflected over the crossbar by rookie goalie Taylor Bracken 10.
Although the team couldnt get the win, Coach Coven was far from disappointed when summing up his thoughts.
I think this is a good indication that this was a very very good team and I think the fact that we tied this team shows that were going to have some success this year and I think that the boys showed that not only can we play but the fact that we were losing and we just kept battling, and battling, and battling, and battling, we have a lot of heart. Its a great team, good kids, they work hard, it means a lot to themtheyve got big hearts and soccer is about hearts and passion and intensity and at this point, this team has it.
Prior to this match, Brandeis shut out Endicott 3-0 thanks to the efforts of Ben Premo who built on his rookie year success with two goals while senior sensation Yuval Ezer 07 tallied in his first goal since sophomore year. Brandeis outshot Endicott 12-9 in the game although Endicott had the advantage in corner kicks, 7-2. Brandeis takes on Wentworth and Clark, both at home on Sept 7 and 9 respectively. The Clark match is at 1 p.m.
