Gorenkoff scores in overtime, WSoccer wins 3-2

In a hard-fought match that saw leads change and rain pour, it was the Brandeis Judges that prevailed in the opening round of the ECACs, beating Rhode Island College 3-2 in overtime. It was a game in which sloppy play at times was matched and surpassed by sloppier conditions.

WVolleyball advances in ECAC

Making their first postseason appearance since Well, their first appearance under Coach Michelle Kim, the Judges justified their number one ECAC seeding with a 3-0 crushing of eighth-seeded Framingham State. It was important to start off strong following a 6th place finish in the UAA tournament last weekend, especially after being awarded the number one seed in the ECAC Tournament.

In the light of Thursday morning

Its an ordinary evening as we sing at Positive Foundations coffeehouse, helping fellow students in their efforts to raise money to fight extreme poverty worldwide. Im performing with the gospel choir, Voices of Praise, and this is my first time singing at Chums. I hear someone speak about how the actions we take today will have an effect on tomorrows world.

Taking a peek into the money-box, I swear I see it instead filled with random things: Some little bag of powder, a thin net, a handful of seeds, a pair of old shoes, and a used book. And I wonder how tomorrow came so fast

Girl Talk walks the walk

No one could have possibly been prepared for the spastic dancing onslaught that is Girl Talk, and no one could have possibly been happier with the performance last Saturday night at Chums. The coffeehouse should have been renamed Club Chums in honor of Girl Talks Punk, Rock & Roll, Club-sponsored performance as the lucky two hundred or so audience members danced on every available surface in the glow of the strobe light. The hour-long set of spastic mash-up dance heaven by Gregg Gillis, the mastermind laptop musician who has been making interracially composed songs under the name Girl Talk since 2002, made up the best dance party that Brandeis has ever seen.

How to keep yourself warm this winter

Its getting to be that time of year again. Its the time to pack away our tanks tops and board shorts and break out the snow boots and winter jackets. Hailing from the Northeast, Im already prepared for the cold weather (and even if I forget something at home, I can drive 45 minutes to get it). However, for those of you who arent used to temperatures below seventy or even the concept of changing seasons, here are some ideas on how to keep warm over the next few months.

Mission: Orgasm

Q: I am having some trouble making my girlfriend orgasm from penetrative sex alone. We have been using a vibrator and that does the job, but are there any positions that will allow my girlfriend to orgasm without a toy?

I knew that guy was sketchy!

Alright, friends, we need to chill a bit;

I sure do, at least. So, with this installation of Horseradish, I present these two true (and all-too-true) stories of Samoan Sally and The Texas Rubber Round-Up. Make of em what you will.

This week in sports

College Football Police searched for clues Wednesday in the killing of University of Miami lineman Bryan Pata, the shooting marking the team's fourth death in the last decade. His death was ruled a homicide, a Miami-Dade police spokesman said. Injured Penn State coach Joe Paterno cannot coach from the sideline Saturday against Temple, but may […]

Who is Saaya?

Nothing says diversity like a South Asian rock band, crooning to songs in Hindi and Punjabi, in a Waltham, Massachusetts campus community. But this is what happened when MELA 2005 needed a band, and a couple of students brought their musical talents together. Hence, Saaya was born.

Bringin Leggings Back

Theyre back! 1980s workout gear has recently become high fashion, as celebrities, models, and Brandeis students have brought leggings back.

Oh my! Oh yes!

Its seven oclock on Sunday night as a hungry mass descends upon chicken wings and boxes of pizza in the second floor kitchen of 145 South Street. While hunger quickly bonds everyone together, the different groups of people can quickly be made out once everyone begins to shovel slices of pizza down their throats. Brandeis students and residents of 145 South Street run about the room, cracking jokes about the weekend and joyously celebrating the days achievements. Members of the Kuss family, visiting their son for Fall Fest weekend, sit around a cramped table situated next to the windows in the kitchen and gleefully chat with everyone in the room. Although space in the room is tight, five musicians who made one of the most endearing and enjoyable albums of the year awkwardly stand against the wall closest to the stairwell they just climbed to arrive at such a feast. The stage was perfectly set for Oh No! Oh My! to kick off Octoberfest, a three-day string of concerts put on by the Punk, Rock n Roll club, at least once the band could get past the barrage of questions from Mr. Kuss.

Words, words, words with Tempest's director

Continuing the Hoots ongoing series of interviews with student directors, this week I had a chance to sit down with Dina Maron 08, director of Hold thy Peaces production of The Tempest, and ask her a few questions about the show as its opening approaches.

Sex toys and you

Whats the deal with sex toys?

Sex toys are sometimes glamorized for their association with sexual liberation, sometimes seen as dirty and scandalous, but may also be viewed by some as a symbol of sexual incompetence. What people might not realize is that sex toys can be sexy and glamorous, and they can be scandalous (if you want them to be). And they can also be a great way to enhance personal and partner sex.

Confessions of a TV addict

Hello. My name is Danny and Im a television addict. You might dismiss my claim, thinking how can watching TV become an addiction? or Real addicts are gamblers or alcoholics, like my grandparents. Well, Im here to set the record straight: I watch an obscene amount of television, and there is nothing I can do to stop myself.

‘Deis author presents book on campaigning

Political analyst and author David Mark 95 returned to campus last Wednesday to discuss his new book on the history, value, and general nature of negative campaigning. In speaking about his book, Going Dirty: The Art of Negative Campaigning, Mark sought to call into question the all but universal sentiment that there is no virtue in negative campaigning.

SEA promoting more local foods in dining halls

Last week, Students for Environmental Action (SEA) held a series of events entitled Think Globally, Eat Locally, which were aimed at raising awareness of the myriad benefits of eating locally grown produce. The group hopes that increased awareness will lead to more local produce being available in the Brandeis dining halls.

ZBT collects names to raise funds

The local chapter of Zeta Beta Tau (ZBT), Brandeis unrecognized off-campus fraternity, raised over $2,000 for the Childrens Hospital Boston at Waltham last week in their first-annual Get on the Ball campaign.
