A look back at the music of 2006 and ahead to 2007

2007 seems to be a promising year for fans of the increasingly popular indie rock and college radio music scenes. A warning to music fans: Be prepared to buy (or if you must, burn) a significant amount of albums if this years offerings are as strong as last years, a highly likely scenario.

The Hoot's spring 2007 undergraduate theatre preview

As the students of Brandeis return to campus in unseasonably warm weather for the start of another semester, the assorted undergraduate theatre groups are gearing up for their spring seasons. So, what can audiences expect to see grace Brandeiss all-undergrad stages this semester? How does murder, mayhem, warped fairly tales, English Renaissance drama, a North American premiere, a rap musical, and more sound?

The arm bones connected to the wrist bone, and then some

My family has a tradition. Every year, on New Years Day, we go to the Museum of Science in Boston to see the big traveling exhibits. For instance, last year, we got the chance to see inside George Lucass mind with the Star Wars exhibition. This January 1, we were able to view the plastinated human cadaver exhibit, commonly known as Body Worlds II.

Don't forget to lock the monkey cage…

Most children believe that when you turn the lights off, your dolls and stuffed animals come to life (admit it, you were one of those kids). But unfortunately for us, that never actually happened. However, in this years blockbuster hit Night at the Museum, your childhood dreams will finally come true…

And you thought Brandeis courses were weird…

When you told your parents that you were taking Keeping Stress in Check, DDR, and Conspiracy Theory in American Culture, your parents were probably not too pleased. Brandeis is a liberal insitution – with a wide range of academic subjects, exploring a wide range of issues from a wide range of angles.

Yet, you can tell them that at least you are not taking some of these courses. They are rated “America's Most Bizarre and Politically Correct College Courses” or more commonly refered to as The Dirty Dozen, by the Young America's Foundation. Here are some of the courses cited…

It is always important for teams to win at home and Wednesday night, Brandeis swimming capped off their home finale of the season with style, sweeping Clark University, 126-97 for the men and women walking away 131-107. MIT too much to handle for Brandeis swimmers

After some time off and a trip to Puerto Rico, the mens and womens swimming and diving team competed this last Saturday in a meet against M.I.T. The diving events were held at the M.I.T. Athletics Center while the swimming events were conducted here at Brandeis. Both teams lost to their opponents, but the meet was a good way to get some good competition and swimming in before upcoming meets…

The new year has not been especially kind to Brandeis but for their miscues, they quickly follow up with moments of inspired play. This is especially true of Brandeis mens basketball performance as they snapped a two game losing skid to upset formerly 24th ranked New York University 52-48.
