On Wednesday Sept. 19, the second of three scheduled forums held on the new Ridgewood residence halls, quickly turned into a battleground for upperclassmen from Ziv and the Village to voice their complaints about early morning construction.

President Reinharz signed the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) on Wednesday, Sept. 12, after being approached by the co-presidents of Students for Environmental Action (SEA) two days prior.

Change in UJ procedure leads to mixed reactions

The Union Judiciary (UJ) announced Sept. 7 a new policy in deciding Constitutional conflicts, sources within the UJ told the Hoot. This new policy, according to Chief Justice Jamie Ansorge 09, allows parties to forgo the previously- established trial system in favor of an expedited decision by the UJ.

Cross Country faces first big test of the year

After taking a week off from competition, the Mens and Womens cross country teams both ran at UMASS Dartmouth in the Dartmouth Invitational this weekend, with much success for both squads. There were thirty-one teams in the field at the event, making it the Judges first big meet of the year, and the Mens team was able to place third, while the Womens team earned fifth.

Brandeis website redesign to go public in November

The Office of Communications, in collaboration with Web and Library Application Services (WaLAS), will be launching a redesigned Brandeis University website by the end of November this year. This will be the first layout redesign the website has undergone since its last update in December 2004.

DC Editorial: To club or not to club

As this editorial staff wandered around Usdan petitioning to make Diverse City a chartered club, we met people of many viewpoints. There were those that said “Why not?” and quickly signed, as well as students who asked to read our constitution first. Perhaps the most memorable person we solicited was a student who refused to sign, explaining that she thought there were too many clubs on campus already.

Strange but True

Hold on to your snacks
A man in Des Moines, Iowa, made an official complaint to police that his son assaulted him, leading to his sons arrest on the charge of domestic assault. An investigation revealed the dirty details: his son, angry at him during an argument, had chucked a bag of Cheetos in his direction. The bag hit his glasses, causing them to bump up against his nose and cut him. Other damage included Cheetos dust all over his shirt. A new warning label will henceforth be placed on all Frito Lay products warning against use as a weapon.

Union focuses on diversity after controversial ad

The Brandeis Student Union, along with Assistant Dean of Student Life Jamele Adams and the Media Advisory Board, is working to promote further awareness of diversity on campus after a controversial advertisement was printed in last Spring's issue of Gravity magazine, said sources within the Student Union.
