Women’s and men’s tennis serve some lovely wins

Since our last publication, both the men’s and the #25-ranked women’s tennis teams have played in three matches. The women faced Colby College, Wheaton College, and Skidmore College. On the men’s side, they faced New York University (NYU), Southwestern College of California and Gustavus Adolphus College of Minnesota.

The women lost to Colby College, but they got their first two wins of the season against both Wheaton College and Skidmore College.

Against Colby, a single doubles win for the Judges was not enough as the Colby Mules had two decisive wins in 6-1 at #3 and 6-4 at #2. Rebecca Suarez ’26 unfortunately had to withdraw at #1 after dropping the first set, 6-3. At #4, the Mules had a 3-0 straight-set win. The Judges’ only point of the day came at #5 when Charly Saltz ’28 came back from a set down.

When the women faced Wheaton, they had a phenomenal day, winning 7-0. In doubles, Sabrina Loui ’25 and Bhakti Parwani ’25 won 6-4 at #1 and then Mandy Reyes ’27 and Nancy Zhang ’26 won 6-1 at #2. This allowed Cecilia Denis ’25 and Anastasia Sia ’25 to win by default at #3. In singles, Parwani ’25 won at #1, Chahana Budhbatti ’27 won at #2, Zhang ’26 won at #3, Sia ’25 won at #4 and Saltz ’28 won at #5. Subsequently, Reyes won by default at #6.

In the women’s most recent match, they had another extremely decisive 7-0 win, this time against Skidmore College. In doubles, Suarez ’26 and Bhakti Parwani ’25 won 6-4 at #1, then Mandy Reyes ’27 and Nancy Zhang ’26 won 6-1 at #2, and then Cecilia Denis ’25 and Anastasia Sia ’25 won 6-2 at #3. Looking ahead, the women will go on to face Franklin Pierce College at home this Saturday, March 29, and Nichols College this Sunday, March 30. Come out and support your Judges in these two home matches this weekend!
