The 2024-25 school year is almost over. It’s been quite an eventful year. Both our school and our country got a new president. One of them has been significantly better than the other. The federal government has cut funding for research. Brandeis finally has a plan to deal with its housing issues. And through it all, students have been attending class, studying and enjoying everything that the college experience offers.
There is only one week of classes left, and then it is time for finals. We at The Hoot know that finals can be a stressful time. Our advice to you is to study hard, but take a break whenever you need and don’t let yourself get too stressed. Remember, finals may be important, but they are not the end of the world. At the end of the day, they’re just tests. And after finals, there is summer break. Summer break is a great time to sit back and relax without worrying about school. Take a needed vacation to one of the many great destinations discussed in this week’s opinions section. Spend time with your friends and family. Enjoy yourselves. Because sooner than you would expect, summer will be over and most of you non-seniors will find yourself back here, on this campus, ready for what the 2025-26 school year brings. Hopefully it is a little bit less chaotic than this one.
We at The Hoot enjoyed this year. We enjoyed bringing you news about what’s happening in the Brandeis community. We loved sharing with you opinions on everything from serious political subjects like free speech and the election to lighter topics like fast food and vinyl records. It has been our pleasure to present the community’s thoughts in our arts section about everything from books to movies, new releases to old classics and everything in between. Our features section has brought insightful interviews and put a spotlight on some of the fantastic clubs at Brandeis. Our sports section has helped you follow our Judges through the highs and lows of college sports. We at The Hoot would like to thank everyone who wrote for us this year, who provided photographs, helped us with editing or who simply read the paper. This paper would not be possible without you guys. We look forward to continuing serving as Brandeis’ community newspaper in Fall 2025 and beyond.
Finally, The Hoot would like to congratulate the Class of 2025. You did it! You are about to be college graduates. After spending the last four years of your life here at Brandeis, it is time to go out into the world. We have no doubt that you guys will accomplish fantastic things and make the Brandeis community proud.
