Since our last publication, both the women’s and men’s tennis teams have played four matches. The women faced Endicott College, the #12-ranked Wellesley College, Trinity College (Conn.) and Springfield College. On the men’s side, they faced the US Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), the #11-ranked Babson College, Trinity College (Conn.) and rounded out their matches against the #3-ranked Tufts University.
The women won all four of the matches they played in. The men split their matches, winning half of them.
Against the Endicott Gulls, the Judges started off the match by sweeping in doubles. Rebecca Suarez ’26 and Sabrina Loui ’25 won 6-1 at #1, Chahana Budhbhatti ’27 and Nancy Zhang ’26 won 6-0 at #2, and then Cecilia Denis ’25 and Anastasia Sia ’25 won 6-1 at #3. In singles, Suarez ’26 won at #1, Sia ’25 won at #2, Charly Saltz ’28 won at #3, Mandy Reyes ’27 won at #4, Loui ’25 won at #5 and Dennis ’25 won at #6. This was an especially exciting day as this match was a part of the women’s tennis senior celebration for their class of 2025 teammates.
When the women faced the #2 Wellesley College women, they had another great day, winning 5-2. In doubles, Suarez ’26 and Bhakti Parwani ’25 won 6-2 at #1, Reyes ’27 and Zhang ’26 won 6-3 at #2 and then Denis ’25 and Sia ’25 won 7-6 at #3. In singles, Suarez ’26 won at #1, Budhbhatti ’27 lost at #2, Zhang ’26 lost at #3, Sia ’25 won at #4, Saltz ’28 won at #5 and Reyes ’27 won at #6.
In their next match, the women’s tennis team traveled to Hartford, Connecticut to face Trinity. They had another great day, winning 6-1 this time. In doubles, Suarez ’26 and Parwani ’25 won 6-0 at #1, Reyes ’27 and Zhang ’26 won 6-1 at #2, and then Denis ’25 and Sia ’25 won 6-1 at #3. In singles, Parwani ’25 lost at #1, Budhbhatti ’27 won at #2, Zhang ’26 won at #3, Sia ’25 won at #4, Saltz ’28 won at #5 and Reyes ’27 won at #6.
In the women’s most recent match, they had another solid 7-0 win, this time against Springfield College. In doubles, Suarez ’26 and Parwani ’25 won 6-4 at #1, Reyes ’27 and Budhbhatti ’27 won 6-0 at #2 and then Denis ’25 and Sia ’25 won 6-1 at #3. In singles, Suarez ’26 won at #1, Parwani ’25 won at #2, Budhbhatti ’27 won at #3, Zhang ’26 won at #4, Sia ’25 won at #5 and Loui ’25 won at #6.
Looking ahead, the women’s tennis team will be traveling to Altamonte Springs, Florida for the 2025 University Athletic Association Conference Tournament. Let’s go ‘deis!
On the men’s side, they won two of the four matches they played since we last published.
Against the USCGA, the men had a great day, winning 7-0. In doubles, Dylan Walters (GRAD) and Daniel Shemesh ’28 won 6-1 at #1, Pierce Garbett ’27 and Aidan Wang-Fan ’28 won 6-1 at #2, and then Benjamin Kotzen ’28 and Huasen Dong ’27 won 6-1 at #3. In singles, Walters (GRAD) won at #1, Garbett ’27 won at #2, Dong ’27 won at #3, Wang-Fan ’28 won at #4, Kotzen ’28 won at #5 and David Galvez ’28 won at #6.
Next, the men’s tennis team hosted the #11-ranked Babson Beavers for a home match. This match did not go as well as their previous one. In doubles, Walters (GRAD) and Shemesh ’28 lost 2-6 at #1, Garbett ’27 and Wang-Fan ’28 lost 3-6 at #2, and then Kotzen ’28 and Dong ’27 won 6-4 at #3. In singles, Walters (GRAD) won at #1, Garbett ’27 lost at #2, Shemesh ’28 won at #3, Dong ’27 lost at #4, Wang-Fan ’28 lost at #5 and Kotzen ’28 lost at #6.
The men’s tennis team would have faced the Clark University team for a match two days later, but that was canceled.
After three days away from competition, the Judges were back at it, this time to host Trinity. This match went well for them as they came out on top, winning 5-2. In doubles, Walters (GRAD) and Shemesh ’28 won 6-2 at #1, Garbett ’27 and Wang-Fan ’28 won 6-2 at #2, and then Kotzen ’28 and Dong ’27 lost 3-6 at #3. In singles, Walters (GRAD) won at #1, Shemesh ’28 won at #2 Garbett ’27 won at #3, Kotzen ’28 won at #4, Galvez ’27 lost at #5 and the Judges took the win at #6 by default.
In their most recent match, the men’s tennis team hosted the third-ranked in the nation for Division III Tufts Jumbos. As to be slightly expected, this match did not go exceptionally well for the Judges, though they did not go down without a fight. They ended up losing 5-2 with singles wins from both Walters (GRAD) at #1 and Shemesh ’28 at #2.
Looking ahead, the men’s tennis team will also be traveling to Altamonte Springs, Florida for the 2025 University Athletic Association Conference Tournament.
