April Fool: Subway restaurant to be opened in Village space
Student Union officials announced that Brandeis will open its own Subway restaurant in an unused space near the Village. According to officials, this decision comes after last years student poll, which gave several options with what to do with the space.

Men’s tennis suffers set back in loss to Tufts
Brandeis mens tennis suffered a set back but then a bounce back as the team responded to a 5-2 loss at the hands of regional rival Tufts University but were able to pull together and take down Babson 8-1 in the teams first outdoor match of this season.
Women’s softball suffers two straight shut-outs: 2-0, 9-0
Simon and Garfunkel once sang that home is where loves lies waiting silently for me. They certainly didnt have the Brandeis softball in mind as they have dropped two straight at home to Wellesley and Lasell by a combined total of 11 runs. Adding to the futility is that the softball team has to their creditzero runs and are now stuck in a six game losing streak.
Fencing teams both achieve high degrees of success
Both the mens and womens fencing teams sent athletes to compete in the NCAA championship meet this weekend held at Drew University in New Jersey. Brandeis took 18th place of the 28 teams present at the competition this Saturday for the women. The team was also able to place first among division three schools at the tournament, a feat that has not been accomplished since 2004. Furthermore, they ranked 3rd of all the New England teams competing, and the squad cumulatively scored 19 points.
Baseball team making history
This years Brandeis University Judges baseball team is making history through stellar play and accomplishments. Five players were honored by being placed on the University Athletic Association (UAA) All-Conference team.
Pleasant but shallow in The Namesake
Director Mira Nair (Monsoon Wedding) has released another film about the Indian-American experience, this time about Gogol (Harold and Kumars Kal Penn), the son of immigrant parents (Tabu and Irfan Kahn) who struggles with his Indian identity. It is based on a 2004 novel by the Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist, Jhumpa Lahiri, entitled The Namesake.
April Fool: Housing selection corruption leads to second selection in May
This months Housing Lottery selection, which hit an unprecedented 1787, was allegedly corrupted by student hackers, say sources within the Department of Residence Life. Because of the damage done to the lottery process, Residence Life added in a shocking announcement, students will be receiving via e-mail this week a second set of fool-proofed numbers to be used in a new round of housing selection in May.Unfortunately, in the interest of fairness, starting over from scratch is the only thing we can do, said Department of Residence Life Director Richard DeCapua. We have to just get this over with, as fast as we can, and with as little hassle as possible.
