No place like home field for WSoccer

On days like this past Saturday, it seems like the womens soccer team could go 18-0 this year.

In a nearly flawless game, the Judges shut out Clark University 3-0 on their home turf behind a stellar two goal performance from senior co-captain Lauren Gregor.
Lizzie Bremner 08 provided all the scoring the Judges would need when she headed in the rebound of a loose ball only 1:14 into the game. Fans were still making their way down South Street while the Judges were already well on their way to their second straight victory at Gordon Field.

Gregor increased the Brandeis lead to 2-0 when she swiped away an attempt by Clark to clear the ball and quickly deposited it into the net from 20 yards out.

With 8 minutes to go in the half it was Gregors turn again to spark the offense. Making her season debut, Lisa Kaplin 07 made a perfect pass through the Clark defense to Gregor, who made some nifty moves before finding the top corner of the net. Gregors second goal of the game marked her second multi goal game of the year. She also moved into third place on the Judges all time scoring list with 80 career points and fourth on the career goal list with 33 scores.

Heading into the halftime intermission, the Judges held a commanding 3-0 lead. It was one they would not relinquish thanks to strong defense, particularly from Kalina Ehrenreich-Piot 08 and impressive goal tending.

Betsey Medow 08 (5 saves) was solid again in net, recording her second shutout of the young season.

This past Wednesday the Judges (3-1) took their success on the road when they one upped Simmons 2-1 to capture their first road win of the year. Again, Brandeis wasted little time getting their offense going. 15 minutes into the contest Brittany Douglass 07 heaved a throw in that midfielder Amy King 08 retrieved and booted in. Just for kicks, Kaplin added an insurance goal with 30 minutes to go.

The Judges return home to face Springfield College tomorrow at one oclock on their gorgeous new playground known as Gordon Field.
