One of the most discussed aspects of this years Brandeis golf team during their preseason was the mix of talented youth and upperclassmen leadership that has the potential to result in one of the best seasons in school history. The teams showing at the first Little Four Quad Meet of the season at the George Wright Golf Club in Hyde Park, Massachusetts, proved that the predictions are right on track.

The golf team had their lowest combined score as a team under head coach Bill Shipman, shooting a combined 312 to place ten strokes ahead of Suffolk University (322), fifteen strokes ahead of MIT (327) and twenty strokes ahead of Babson College (332).

First year players Ralph Harary 09 and Nick Wallen 09 were major forces, shooting a 77 (+7) and 79 (+9) respectively, while co-Captain Josh Levine 06 shot a 78 (+8). Alex Botwick 08 tied Levines score of 78 (+8) to help contribute to the well-played victory.

The only thing that Brandeis did not have was a player with the top overall score for the round, but having each participating player shoot under 80 strokes was a perfect consolation.

After finishing 19th out of 24 teams at the Duke Nelson Invitational last weekend at Middlebury College and being unable to play in the Nichols Quad Meet in Dudley, Massachusetts on September 20th because of poor weather, the Judges played at their best level of the entire season, and the excellent play should only continue in the near future. The teams next tournament is the ECAC New England Championships at Hamden, Connecticut on September 27th, with competition against Rhode Island College and Worcester State at Providence, Rhode Island on September 28th.
