MSoccer cant swallow pride

The mens soccer team suffered a devastating 4-2 road loss to Springfield College, leaving them on the outside looking in for a spot in the ECAC tournament. Forward Matt Aucoin 07 led the Springfield Pride with a goal and an assist to help ensure the victory. Brandeis has gone winless in its last six games to lower their record 6-7-1.

Springfield scored first, when forward Justin Pepoli 06 planted the ball in the net in the sixth minute of play. Only ten minutes later, Pride midfielder Ted Feeley 08 added to the lead, with a header assisted by Aucoin and forward Colin Cook 08.

The Judges came storming back, as forward Ben Premo 09 scored two consecutive goals at 23:01 and 27:16 to even the score at two. Premo 09 is currently the team leader in goals scored with seven this season.

The second goal was assisted by Evan Duval 08. Early in the second half, Aucoin scored off Cooks second assist of the game to give the Pride a 3-2 lead. The Judges came close to tying the game in the 60th minute of play when Premo 09 took a shot, but Springfield defender Jeremy Scheer 09 headed it away. The Pride added an insurance goal with 19:30 left in the game, when forward Michael Burke 08 scored an unassisted goal.

Brandeis finishes up the season with a three game home stand. Today, the Judges play Washington Univ. Their final games are against NYU and University of Chicago.
