The Colts just won their eleventh straight game, making them only the eleventh team to go 11-0 in NFL history. They were fortunate to defeat the Bengals and Steelers, both of whom had seven wins. However Peyton Manning and Edgerrin James managed to get the Colts 26 points against the Steelers, while the impressive defense held young Ben Roethlisberger to under 150 yards, and just one touchdown score on Monday night.
Meanwhile Tom Brady had a rough day in Kansas City on Sunday as he threw four interceptions in the Patriots 26-16 loss to the Chiefs. Three of the interceptions went to Chiefs safety Greg Wesley (who told teammates before the game that he would do just that), and all four of the picks came off of passes tipped into the air by Patriots wide receivers. It was a tough week for New England as they were once again without Corey Dillon and managed less than 75 yards on the ground split between four backs. Heath Evans gained only 11 yards on 6 carries. With this loss the Patriots fell to 6-5, although they are still ahead in the AFC East. They have a decent chance at the playoffs considering their remaining five games include only one against a team with a winning record, and two against the struggling 2-9 New York Jets.
The Denver Broncos won their fourth straight game on Thanksgiving, moving to 9-2 and to the top of the AFC West by beating the 7-4 Dallas Cowboys in overtime. The Cowboys are now tied for the lead in their division with the New York Giants, who suffered a loss this week to the Seattle Seahawks, thanks mostly to the off-target leg of kicker Jay Feely. The Giants were tied 21-21 with Seattle in overtime, and Feely had three tries to win the game, missing a 40-yarder in the last seconds of the regular game, and then 54 and 45 yarders in overtime. Despite this overall .400 day for Feely, maybe its the Giants offense that is really to blame, as it stalled each time forty yards from the back of the end zone.
The Eagles got a much needed win this week when they hosted the Green Bay Packers, finally ending their four-game losing streak which had them sitting at the bottom of a division that they have dominated for the past three years. With 117 yards from Brian Westbrook and four field goals from kicker David Akers, the Eagles managed to pull out a much-needed victory even without their stars, Donovan McNabb and Terrell Owens.
Finally, it should be mentioned that San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson put up big numbers this week against the Redskins, gaining 213 all-purpose yards (184 rushing), and scoring three touchdowns as the chargers beat out the Redskins 23-17.
Next week brings some exciting games as the AFC East rivals Patriots and Jets meet for the first time this season, while the NFC powerhouses Falcons and Panthers face off in North Carolina. Also, NFL fans will be sure to keep an eye on the Indianapolis and Tennessee game, as the 3-8 Titans hope to draw the first blood against the miraculously successful Colts.
