This week, three Brandeis athletes have been named UAA Athletes of the Week. The recipients are: womens basketball forward Caitlin Malcolm 07, mens forward Steve DeLuca 08, and first-year track star Anat Benum 09.

Malcolm, the UAA leader in rebounds (9 rpg) and second in points (18.2 ppg), had a dominant week, exploding for a career-high 33 points against Tufts and averaging 21.3 points for the three game stretch.

DeLuca averaged 20 points and 7 rebounds as the Brandeis men went 1-1 for the week. DeLucas best game came against Washington University. Even though they lost, DeLuca had a game high 25 points, including 3 three point shots.

Benum dominated the womens side of the Reggie Poyau Memorial Meet, winning the high jump and the triple-jump. Her mark of 11.61 meters in the triple jump makes her the first Brandeis track athlete to qualify for the NCAA Division III Nationals.

Benum and Malcolm also won the ECAC Athlete of the Week honors in their respective sports.

Malcolm (womens basketball): 21.3 ppg 10.0 rpg, 56% FG (23-41), 73% FT (16-22) 8 steals, 8 assists.

Steve DeLuca (mens basketball): 20.0 ppg 7.0 rpg, 56% FG (15-27), 57% 3-point (4-7).

Anat Benum (track): Winner of the triple-jump (11.61 meters) and high-jump (1.57 meters).
