The Patriots, known for their free-agent work since the arrival of head coach Bill Belichick, are at it again, and are beginning by releasing several free agents who have quickly been scooped up.

The most prominent Patriot to leave so far is definitely receiver David Givens. Givens, who played all 53 of his games with the Patriots, was released as a free agent, and soon after began pursuing a deal with the Houston Texans. Givens asked for $25 million over five years from the Texans, and was offered $18. Givens however was right to hold out, when he signed with the Tennessee Titans for $24 million over five years, where he will compete for the number one spot at wide receiver.

Another player who left was wide receiver Andre Davis who was picked up by the club late last August from the Cleveland Browns. Davis started four seasons for New England, and was signed by the Bills for just over one million dollars, including signing bonuses.

Yet another Patriots receiver is gone with the loss of tight end Christian Fauria. Fauria joined the Pats from Seattle in 2002, when he racked up 27 receptions and 7 touchdowns. However, Faurias production has slipped dramatically – last season he caught only 8 balls and scored only twice – and it is for this reason that he will be playing for the Washington Redskins next year.

Additionally, linebacker and special teams player Matt Chatham is gone after six seasons in New England;

Chatham has signed with the New York Jets, following Patriots defensive coordinator Eric Mangini. There is one last Patriots player that everyone is watching;

New England star Adam Vinatieri, who is rumored to be headed to Dallas to fulfill the Cowboys' great needs in the kicking position.
