Brandeis womens soccer was honored as two players, Melissa Gordon 07 and Sarah Jasak 08 were selected as members of D3kicks.com Team of the Week with over a month of the season covered.
Gordon, a co-captain, was chosen for her strong two-way play during the week of Sept. 17. In that time, she helped the Brandeis defense hold Simmons and Clark to 11 shots combined while also contributing an assist against Clark.
Jasak was named on to the team for the week of Sept. 24. During that week, the Judges went 3-0 which was in no small part due to Jasaks offensive output of 2 goals and 2 assists. She scored the game-winner against Wellesley back on Sept. 19 and against Bowdoin, scored the equalizer and assisted on the game winner back on Sept. 24.
When asked for comment, Jasak replied, It was sweet! I dunno, it was great;
it was unexpected and its a great feeling. Rock on, put that in there! Jasak had kind words about her fellow recipient, Gordon, Shes really good offensively and defensively. Shes always first to the ball, shes a big part of our defense and we can always expect the best from her. Shes always on her game, shes very consistent.
Co-captain Brittany Douglass 07 elaborated further on how important Gordon and Jasak are to the Judges, Theyre both amazing players, were lucky to have them. Sarah creates all these options up top and Flash [Gordon] provides so much coverage in the back. I just think were lucky to have them. Theyre great players who have the mind of the game, control everything and were just really lucky with them.
Jasak as of October 4, leads the Judges with four assists and her four goals gives her 12 points, second only to Lisa Kaplins 07 with 14. Gordon has one assist, seven shots, two of which were shots on goal. The team is currently 6-3-1.
