Men’s soccer suffers defeat by Chicago Maroon

The Judges’ men’s soccer team was defeated 1-0 by the University of Chicago Sunday on Stagg Field.

The loss dropped the Judges to 9-6-1, 1-4-1 in the University Athletic Association (UAA), while the Maroons improved to 8-7-1, 2-3-1 in the UAA.

After a slow first half in which each team only got off three shots, the Maroons finally broke through in the 58th minute.

Alan Pikna started the play with a pass to Daniel Hahn. Hahn put the ball towards the net and Stanton Coville was able to score at the 57:20 mark, making his seventh goal of the season.

The Judges outshot Chicago, 7-6, in the second half and 10-9 for the game, but Chicago goalie Mason Harless made two saves for the shutout.

Brandeis’ Taylor Bracken ’11 had four stops in the losing effort.

Brandeis will wrap up the regular season at University Athletic Association leader NYU next Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
