This year signifies the momentous 75th anniversary since Brandeis University’s establishment in 1948. Throughout this academic year, Brandeis is set to commemorate the youthful yet remarkably accomplished essence of the community it has fostered. While many prestigious institutions trace back hundreds of years, Brandeis has earned its spot as a top tier research university in such a small amount of time.

The entirety of this academic year will reverberate with celebrations centered around “Brandeis’ lasting impact, and what it means to be a Brandeisian,” as articulated by President Ron Lebowitz. Festivities will kick off as early as Sept. 7 with the HBI Art Opening: Lives Eliminated, Dreams Illuminated, and culminate on Oct. 22, with the Law, Caste, and Pursuit of Justice conference.

Brandeis intends to continue adding events to the 75th anniversary calendar throughout the 2023-2024 academic year. The pinnacle of these celebrations, however, is scheduled for the weekend of Oct. 13 to Oct. 15.

During this time, Brandeis will be brimming with diverse activities including athletic homecoming, the Brandeis National Committee, family weekend, a Brandeis reunion and much more. The festivities commence on the 13th at 9 a.m. with the Opening Plenary Brandeis: Past, and conclude on the 15th at 11:30 a.m. with a memorial service honoring the beloved members of the Brandeis community who have departed.

The focal point of the weekend is the Saturday, Oct. 14 event at 6:45 p.m.—the Brandeis at 75: Diamond Celebration: Dinner. This gala affair will feature the presentation of the Alumni Achievement Awards, the BNC Sanchar Award, and live music to dance to with friends, family, and fellow members of the Brandeis community.
