Though the Women’s soccer team had a light week as far as the number of games they played, they still made sure to excel during their match against Lesley University. Their match this past week against Lesley was on Tuesday, Sept. 26. 

This was an especially exciting game for the Judges as it was their first since being named #18 per the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 for National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Division III Women’s Soccer. The Judges set out to defend their 4-0-3 record heading into this game. 

Though the outcome of this game was exciting for the Judges, the game did start off quite slow. The scoring for the Judges commenced in the 17th minute from a goal by Ali Pennella ’27. She scored off of a corner kick by her teammate, Rachel Walker ’25. Lesley equaled the score in the 37th minute with their only point scored during the game. Both the Judges and the opposing Lesley Lynx had a goal at the conclusion of the first half of the game.

Heading into the second half of the game, the Judges scored their game-winning goal in the 60th minute. Sydney Lenhart ’25 scored this goal off of an assist from Tanvi Raju ’27. Nearly two minutes later, Walker lofted a corner kick into the Lesley box, giving Lenhart another opportunity to score. Lenhart capitalized on the chance to score and found the back of the net. Lenhart’s third and final goal of the game was scored about 10 minutes later, scoring on a solo drive up the field. The Judges scored their final goal of the match in the 78th minute off of a shot by Dominique Paglia ’25. 

The game concluded with the Judges winning 5-1 over the Lesley Lynx. 

Referring to the statistics from this game, the Judges out-shot the Lynx 19-6. The keepers for the Judges split the game, with Hannah Bassan ’25 playing the first half and Amaya Logan ’27 playing the second half. Logan made three saves in the second half, while Bassan did not make any saves. 

Looking ahead, the Judges have an exciting weekend coming up. On Saturday, Sept. 30 they will be kicking off their conference games for the 2023 season against Carnegie Mellon University. The game will be played at 11 a.m. at Gordon Field.
