Cross country teams compete at UAA Championships

On Nov. 2, both the men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the UAA Championship meet in Attleboro, Massachusetts. The event was hosted by Brandeis and attended by eight teams in total: the Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) Tartans, the Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) Spartans, the University of Chicago Maroons, the Emory University Eagles, the New York University (NYU) Violets, the University of Rochester Yellowjackets and the University of Washington in Saint Louis (WashU) Bears in addition to the Judges.

 

On the men’s side, the Judges came in eighth place. On the eight-kilometer long course, TJ Carleo ’26 came 43rd with a time of 23:51.2, Henry Nguyen GRAD got a time of 25:59.2 for 52nd place, Lucas Dia ’25 came in 66th with a 26:37.3, Dashiell Janicki ’25 came in 71st with a time of 26:54.30, Parker Cook ’28’s time of 27:38.9 was enough for 74th place, while Robert King ’26 had a time of 28:00.30 and Ben Katsev ’28 had a time of 28:24.10. Carleo and Nguyen both broke the 26-minute mark for the first time and improved their placements significantly since the last UAA Championship meet.

 

On the women’s side, the Judges also came in eighth place. On the six-kilometer long course, Zada Forde ’25 came in 49th with a 23:21.70, Ella Warkentine ’26 had a time of 23:23.50 for 50th place, Sadie Harrow ’27 ran a 23:52.40 to net 59th place, Kyra Au ’25 ran a 24:00.08 for 62nd, Katriona Briggs ’26 came in 67th with a time of 24:40.50, while Shayna Zavell ’27 ran a 24:50.70 and Calli Morvay ’26 ran a 25:43.40. Forde beat her 2023 placement by five places, Warkentine improved over last year by 11 places and Harrow beat her performance last year by one spot.

 

Next up, the Judges will travel to Hopkinton, New Hampshire for the NCAA East Regional Championship meet.
