Track team breaks their own school record

On Feb. 14, the Judges traveled to BU to participate in the Valentine Invitational. TJ Carleo ’26 finished 71st overall with a time of 1:52.89, sixth among Division III (DIII) competitors at the meet and 26th among DIII times this season. Shaniece Nugent ’26 got fourth place in the triple jump and first among DIII participants with a height of 11.45 meters, 25th among DIII this season. Sarai Sealy ’28 was 11th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.31 seconds, sixth among DIII participants and setting a personal record (PR). Peterly Leroy ’28 was just behind Sealy with a time of 25.40 seconds, 19th overall and eighth among DIII. Leroy’s time was also a PR. Hannah Bohbot-Dridi ‘25 was 22nd overall and seventh among DIII in the 400 meter with a time of 58.29 seconds. The women’s 4×400 team of Bohbot-Dridi, Jasmin Berganza ’28, Sealy and Leroy finished sixth in DIII with a time of 3:58.07.

On Feb. 15, the Judges participated in field events at the MIT Gordon Kelly Invitational. Alisha Anderson ’26 placed third in the pole vault with a height of 3.55 meters, which tied her personal record. Emma Liu ’26 set a PR and came in fifth in the 20-pound weight throw with a distance of 14.88 meters. Sophie Segal ’27 placed fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.51 meters. Jon Klu ’27 set a PR and came in fifth in the long jump with a distance of 6.39 meters. Cam Pierce ’25 came in eighth place in the 35-pound weight throw with a distance of 13.13 meters. 

On Feb. 22, the track and field team traveled to Norton, Massachusetts, to participate in the Wheaton Pre Post-Season Invitational. At that event, the men’s 4×200 relay team of Matthew Yue ’26, Jordan Colon ’25, Sam Rosen ’28 and Danny Krigman ’25 broke their own school record with their time of 1:34.99. This broke the school record that they set just over a month ago at the Reggie Poyau Memorial Invitational by just two-hundredths of a second. Their record time earned them a first-place finish.

TJ Carleo ’26 won the mile run with a time of 4:21.44. He finished ahead of graduate student teammate Henry Nguyen, who finished with a time of 44:30.03. Garret Rieden ’26 won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.18, which was good for a season best. Kevin Wright ’27 won the 35-pound weight throw with a distance of 14.42 meters. This distance was good for a personal record (PR) for Wright and was the season best among the Judges. Alex Chan ’28 set a PR on the pole vault with a height of 3.85 meters. This was good for second place in the event.

For the women’s team, Peterly Leroy ’28 won the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.89 seconds. Kayla DiBenedetto ’25 won the 800-meter with a time of 2:21.89. She won the event with a margin of more than 2.5 seconds. Alisha Anderson ’26 won the pole vault with a height of 3.52 meters. Emma Liu ’26 came in second place in the 20-pound weight throw with a distance of 14.42 meters. Shaniece Nugent ’26 and Kirsten Man ’25 came in second and third respectively in the triple jump, with heights of 11.10 meters and 10.30 meters. Ella Warkentine ’26 came in second place in the mile run with a time of 5:18.49. Sophie Segal ’27 placed second in the high jump with a height of 1.51 meters, a season-best. 

The Judges will travel to Chicago to participate in the UAA Indoor Championships starting on Mar. 1.
