Brandeis Bund holds another ‘coffin walk’

On March 12, at noon, members of the Jewish Brandeis Bund gathered at the top of the Rabb steps with a wooden coffin. Much like they did at their previous funeral procession, members of the Bund walked from the top of the Rabb steps down to the Shapiro Campus Center (SCC). Some attendees held signs depicting Palestinians that they claimed had been “murdered by Israel.” Every attendee wore some sort of face covering, with most wearing keffiyehs.

The group walked silently down campus, with many students recording them. One member of the procession told The Hoot that an individual they had identified as a faculty leader within Brandeis’ Theater Department had approached the group and asked them repeatedly why attendees were hiding their faces. The Hoot also saw other passers-by speak to members of the group, with some sarcastically telling the group that they were doing a “great job.” The group stopped walking once they reached the front of the Carl and Ruth Shapiro Admissions Center, where they quickly dispersed.
