Women’s and men’s tennis dominantly win last four matches

Since our last publication, the men’s tennis team has played one match and the and the women’s tennis teams played in three. The women faced Franklin Pierce College, Nichols College and Smith College. On the men’s side, they faced the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). 

The women won all three of the matches they played in. Not only did they win, but they also swept every opponent they faced, 7-0. 

Against Franklin Pierce, the Judges started off the match by sweeping in doubles with going  6-1 at #1 and 6-2 at #2 and #3. In doubles, Rebecca Suarez ’26 and Bhakti Parwani ’25 won 6-1 at #1, then Mandy Reyes ’27 and Nancy Zhang ’26 won 6-2 at #2, and then Cecilia Denis ’25 and Anastasia Sia ’25 won 6-2 at #3. In singles, Parwani ’25 won at #1, Chahana Budhbatti ’27 won at #2, Zhang ’26 won at #3, Sia ’25 won at #4, Reyes ’27 won at #5 and Sabrina Loui ’25 won at #6. Excitingly, this was Loui’s first singles match back after being sidelined by injury. 

When the women faced Nichols, they had another great day, winning 7-0 again. In doubles, Suarez ’26 and Parwani ’25 won 6-1 at #1, Reyes ’27 and Zhang ’26 won 6-0 at #2 and then Denis ’25 and Sia ’25 won 6-0 at #3. In singles, Suarez ’26 won at #1, Parwani ’25 won at #2, Budhbatti ’27 won at #3, Zhang ’26 won at #4, Sia ’25 won at #5 and Reyes ’27 won at #6. 

In the women’s most recent match, they had another extremely decisive 7-0 win, this time against Smith College. In doubles, Suarez ’26 and Parwani ’25 won 6-1 at #1, Reyes ’27 and Budhbhatti ’27 won 6(5)-7(7) at #2 and then Denis ’25 and Sia ’25 won 6-2 at #3. In singles, Suarez ’26 won at #1, Parwani ’25 won at #2, Budhbatti ’27 won at #3, Sia ’27 won at #4, Saltz ’28 won at #5 and Reyes ’27 won at #6. 

Looking ahead, the women will go on to host Endicott College at home this Friday, April 11, and Wellesley College this Sunday, April 13.The match on Friday will be the Judges’ senior day while they celebrate their class of 2025 athletes! Come out and support your Judges in these two home matches this weekend!

On the men’s side, they won the only match they played. 

Against MIT, the men had a great day, winning 5-2. In doubles, Dylan Walters (GRAD) and Daniel Shemesh ’28 won 6-1 at #1, then Pierce Garbett ’27 and Aidan Wang-Fan ’28 won 6-3 at #2, and then Benjamin Kotzen ’28 and Huasen Dong ’27 won 6-3 at #3. In singles, Walters (GRAD) won at #1, Shemesh ’28 lost at #2, Garbett ’27 lost at #3, Dong ’27 won at #4, Wang-Fan ’28 won at #5 and Kotzen ’28 won at #6. 

The men’s team would have also played against Endicott College; however, that match was rescheduled to a date that has yet to be announced. 

Looking ahead, the men’s tennis team will go on to host the United States Coast Guard Academy on Monday, April 14 and the Babson College Beavers on April 15 this coming week. Come out and support your Judges!
