As the men’s soccer team prepares for their first University Athletics Association (UAA) game of the season this Saturday, they played two tune-up games this week before hitting the road. 

Their games this week started off on Thursday, Sept. 21 in a home game against Vassar College. This was a continuation of the game that started on Sept. 9 and was suspended due to unsafe weather conditions. This meant that the Judges and the Vassar Brewers only played for 35 minutes on this day to complete the 90 minutes of regular play time. 

Prior to this game’s suspension, the Brewers possessed a 2-0 lead over the Judges. Their two goals were scored within the span of 10 seconds as the Brewers were able to capitalize on a miscommunication by the Judges. 

During this 35-minute chunk of play, the Judges produced a few promising chances of scoring, though they were unable to capitalize. Due to this, the game concluded with the Vassar Brewers winning 2-0. 

In their second, and first full regulation time, game of the week, the Judges hosted the Clark University Cougars. Being fairly evenly matched, the Judges were hoping to capture their second win of the season through this game. The Judges came out strong, out-shooting the Cougars 14-4. They scored their first goal of the game in the 28th minute off of a solid strike to the inside left post by Elan Romo ’25. This opportunity was produced by Sancho Maroto Tobias ’24 who passed the ball to Romo at the top of the box. This was the only goal scored during the game, putting the Judges on top 1-0 against the Clark University Cougars. The men’s soccer team now has a season record of 2-4-2. 

As previously mentioned, the Judges will host the Carnegie Mellon University Tartans on Saturday, Sept. 30th in a game at 1:30 p.m. at Gordon Field.
