Rachel Kohn 07 elected Union Judiciary Chief Justice

February 11, 2005

Rachel Kohn 07 has been voted Chief Justice of the Union Judiciary by a secret ballot of her peers. Originally from West Bloomfield, Michigan, Kohn came to Brandeis as part of the first ever mid-year class. The youngest member of the UJ, Kohn is only in her second semester on the court.

I think that an important element of preserving the integrity of the Judiciary is being able to keep cases from being blown out of proportion, her campaign Web site stated last spring. Some situations merit a ruckus, but not every situation;

sensibility is a necessity.
Kohns elections follows the resignation of former Chief Justice Igor Pedan 05 to pursue graduate studies.
