Men’s baseball consistently inconsistent

The six most recent scheduled Brandeis University baseball games have yet to be played as four of them have been cancelled, and two postponed due to poor weather conditions. The Judges played their last game on April 11 when they were demolished by WPI 2-10.

Brandeis was hoping to watch their baseball team get on a winning pace during these past few scheduled games, as they have been dealing with a great deal of inconsistency throughout the entire season.

Due to a lack of experience, the young Judges have yet to see a winning streak longer than two games, and have given away games that they should have won.

It is apparent that this young squad has a great deal of talent as five of their players were placed on the University Athletic Association (UAA) All-Conference team.

Beyond their individual efforts, the Judges have proven that they can win tough games as they have defeated a team like Emory University which is ranked third in the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division III Baseball Poll, and have put up valiant efforts against a team like Wheaton College which is ranked seventh in the same poll, when they lost 1-2.

The Judges inconsistency is truly displayed when they defeat teams such as Emory University, yet get demoralized by the weaker teams such as WPI.

The inconsistency is not being helped by the inconsistent playing conditions, and the Judges are hoping to use this time away from the field to help direct them on the right track towards success.

The Judges currently hold a record of 10-9 (now 10-10, ed.) and hope to go on a longer winning streak and gain a little bit of consistency by the end of the season.
