Due to the first two weeks of classes being remote, the Brandeis University library will have different hours of operation, according to an email sent to the Brandeis community by Matthew Sheehy, the University Librarian.
From Monday, Jan. 17 to Monday, Jan. 31, the library will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays. If future changes occur due to a shift in the university’s COVID-19 policies, they will be posted on the library’s website.
The email also reminded the community that the Library’s Course Reserves program is back to the format it was in prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. If requests are submitted by professors, e-books will be purchased, however currently, most textbooks are in physical copies. To see the availability of reserved books, you can visit the library’s OneSearch tool online.
Additionally, during this time, Research Help services will be available virtually for community members. Archives and Special Collections will also be available virtually to students, according to the email. The library’s reading room will be closed for the time being but will reopen later in the semester. Sound and Image Media Studios will fulfill requests by appointment, however, members are still able to book time or reserve equipment.
The library’s typical hours are planned to resume on Feb. 1 and the hours will be maintained through the end of the semester on May 17, according to their website. The library will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Saturday and 12 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Sunday, according to their website. Spring schedule exceptions and holidays can be found on the library’s website.
To enter the library all community members must have a yellow or green passport, according to the library’s page. Visitors on campus must follow the university’s guest policy when entering the library which can be found on the Guests, Visitors and Contractors webpage.
The library asks that community members continue to stay masked at all times, unless they are actively drinking a beverage. Food will remain prohibited from the library, according to their webpage.
If community members have any questions regarding the library’s policies and hours they can contact library@brandeis.edu for more information.
