Student Union announces open positions to students

Student Union president Peyton Gillespie wrote to community members that there were opportunities in the student government for students to pursue. Gillespie wrote of available positions in the student government in the executive board and the treasury. 

In the executive board, the Director of Residential Life position is open, according to Gillespie. The time commitment for the position is between seven and eight hours a week, according to the email. Requirements in this position include meeting regularly with the Department of Community Living (DCL) staff and work to advocate for increased accessibility and transparency of residential departments like DCL, Brandeis Public Safety and Hospitality, according to the email. In this position, the student would also be expected to communicate regularly with community advisors (CAs), serve as an advisor to the Student Union Senate Dining and Senate Facilities and Housing Committees and attend Executive Board meetings from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. on Sundays. 

The application to apply for this position closed on Jan. 5 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST). Interviews will then be conducted by Gillespie in the weeks following. Final announcements on elections to the position will be sent via email in mid-January. 

There were three available decisions in the treasury. There is an open position to be deputy treasurer and two open positions to be assistant treasurer. 

The deputy treasurer position requires a time commitment of six to seven hours a week. The role of deputy treasurer would be to hold office hours for approximately three hours per week, approve and deny payment requests, princess reimbursements and invoices, answer emails and attend internal treasury training, according to the email. 

The assistant treasurer position is a time commitment of three to four hours a week. In this position students would be expected to hold two hours a week office hours, answer emails, attend internal Treasury training and process MarketPlace+ orders, according to the email.
