New campus transportation services

Brandeis University recently announced several updates to transportation services beginning Monday, Aug. 21 in an email from Lois Stanley, Vice President of Campus Planning and Campus Operations. These changes include a new transportation provider, mobile software for transportation tracking and a new public forum for receiving feedback.

DPV Transportation is replacing Brandeis University’s previous transportation provider Joseph’s Transportation. DPV will be employed on all campus and Greater Boston service routes, including campus routes, the weekend campus/Waltham route and the Boston/Cambridge route. The DPV University Shuttles feature safety features such as seat belts, GPS tracking and air conditioning.

Additionally, Brandeis is using the Tripshot app for shuttle tracking and transportation information for students. Using the search menu, students can input the start location and destination and view possible routes and available shuttles. The app provides an estimate of the wait time at each stop. Additionally, the app includes a map of nearby shuttle stops.

The Public Safety webpage has been updated to detail all of the routes and timetables for university shuttles. Feedback regarding shuttle safety and comfort can be reported on the Public Safety website or through the Tripshot app.

In addition to standard transportation routes, the office of Public Safety works with DPV to provide transportation for group academic or extracurricular events. To inquire about vehicle availability and request vehicles for group purposes, one must fill out the form linked on the Public Safety homepage. Further questions about using DPV for external events can be directed to the Chief of Public Safety, Matthew Rushton.

Further updates include a new policy handbook for using transportation services with service animals, which can be found at the bottom of the Public Safety homepage. Accessibility transportation will continue to be provided through the online application process on the Brandeis Student Accessibility Support webpage.

In anticipation of these new changes, Stanley wrote, “We are excited to launch DPV transportation services at Brandeis, with our top priorities on safety, reliability and streamlined services.”
