This past weekend, the men’s tennis team played in their season opener in a dual-competition against the Division I Bryant University Bulldogs. As the Judges are ranked #20 in the nation for Division III men’s tennis, this was a big weekend for them.
As the Bulldogs are a Division I team, the match was played under Division I rules. This meant that the Judges would play six-game sets at doubles that were worth one point. There were also no-ad games.
The Judges fell to Bryant 6-2, 6-4 and 6-3 in the team’s three doubles matches.
The Judges captured their first win of the season at singles #4, with Alex Merson ’26 winning 6-4 and 6-1 for the decision.
Next was Dylan Walters, ranked #22 in Division III who captured a win from behind, in 4-6, 6-4 and 6-1 matches.
Lastly was Tommy Harrison ’26 who went three sets in #2 singles and ended up falling 2-6, 6-4 and 4-6 in a hard-faught battle.
Looking ahead, the Judges will travel to California to play #5-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Feb. 18th.
