To acquire wisdom, one must observe

Ask SSIS: I noticed that you guys sell a lot of different types of lube. What are the differences and how do I choose?

Thanks for writing to SSIS! We do carry a wide variety of lubes, and it is up to you which one you think will work best for your purposes. Our lubes fall into four categories: silicone-based, water-based, hybrid and oil-based. We like to describe silicone-based lubes as slippy because they stay wet and slippery for long periods of time. Water-based lubes may need to be reactivated using water, saliva or more lube since they tend to evaporate a little over time. Hybrid lubes are a combination of silicone and water. We also carry one oil-based lube, which is not recommended for internal use, such as in the vagina or anus, since it can increase risk of  OPS infection, or for use with condoms as it can degrade them. We recommend using our oil-based lube externally. All water, silicone and hybrid lubes are compatible for use with condoms, dental dams and gloves. It is recommended that silicone lubricants not be used with silicone toys, as silicone degrades silicone, causing it to become more porous and potentially trap bacteria.
