Ok, it’s time for us to say it: We at the Hoot are glad that the Chiefs dynasty is over. For everyone that was hoping to see the dreaded “three-peat,” their hopes were dashed as the Eagles immediately seized a massive lead and never looked back. A 40-22 to win is not just defeating the Chiefs, it was practically a full slaughter. A lot of people quit watching as it became obvious what was about to happen—hell, even Trump left at halftime! However, this is not the biggest thing about the game that we have to talk about today. No, the greatest thing that came out of all of this was undoubtedly Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show. It was high energy and spellbinding, with a top-hatted Samuel L. Jackson trying, and failing, to rein in Kendrick’s performance. And we even got Serena Williams doing the crip walk! It is also important to note that the tennis player is an ex of Drake, as is SZA, who was also brought out on stage. Kendrick essentially got Drake’s former girlfriends to dance on his grave. A total power move. But the biggest question on all of our minds was, “Would he perform it?” Would Kendrick dare to perform “Not Like Us,” even in the midst of a lawsuit filed against it? The whole world held their breath and the answer, with a trollish grin, was “yes.” In front of a massive crowd, in front of practically the entirety of America, Drake was utterly and totally dissed by Kendrick. Even leaving out the word “pedophile” was enough for everyone watching to fill in the blanks. No one knows how Drake is ever going to recover from public humiliation on this scale. Would he even want to leave his house after this performance, which was watched by millions of people? And so The Hoot would like to make it clear that we totally condemn Drake’s alleged actions. We fully stand by our support of Kendrick, who, we should remind you, was at Springfest in ‘13, and thus we will consider him one of our own. However, one must be careful when talking about Drake. The Duolingo account posted a meme on Super Bowl night making fun of Drake and the literal next day, Duo the Owl was found DEAD. We are all in mourning of our language buddy’s tragic demise. Stay safe y’all.
