Have some class

Recently, the course offerings for the Fall 2025 semester have been announced. Returning students can choose from dozens of course offerings to make up their schedule, which for full-time students is anywhere between 3.5 and 5.5 courses. Course registration is not until after Passover break, but that just means you have more time to sift through the courses and see everything exciting that is available. Of course, you have to take care of some of the general requirements, but that does not mean that you can’t have some fun. You can take classes like “Vampires: Dark Fictions of Blood,” “The Social Politics of Sexual Education,” “Provocative Art: Outside the Comfort Zone,” “Beyond Loop Road: Transitioning to the Real World” and more. Do not be afraid to be bold. After all, you are likely only going to be in college once, so you might as well take advantage of the learning opportunities that are available to you. Also, if you have not done it yet, take care of your requirements as soon as you can. It will be a lot better to get those taken care of as soon as you can so you can spend your later year having fun, as opposed to being bogged down while you are filling out job applications in your senior year. Plus, if you finish out your requirement before your second semester senior year, you can do that semester part time. Of course, it is always nice to stick a few fun classes into the beginning, but make sure that you have a course load with courses that will check off a good amount of requirements, as your future self will thank you. Furthermore, while talking about class registration, it is important that everyone thinks about scheduling. Since this editorial will be read by people who have already dealt with at least a few months of college courses, then the people reading this editorial should understand their college sleeping schedules and what works best for them. You may see a fun course that you like, but it could be at a time that is too early for you or too late for you. You may think that the next semester will be different, but that’s hardly ever the case. Your brain will likely not go through a big dramatic change between now and the fall, especially when the summer free time screws up your sleeping schedule. Go with your gut, and think about what you can actually handle so that you don’t miss classes due to oversleeping, or you completely run out of energy by the time you have that class. You need to be in your prime when you learn. Also, speaking of handling, evaluate whether four or five classes is better for you. You may think that five classes is just one more than four, so it should not be that big of a deal. However, balancing five classes versus four can be a lot more work, and it’s not for everyone. Think of how heavy duty four of your classes would be, and then evaluate if the fifth class will cause too much stress. A great way to check that out is to look at syllabi from previous years, which are available on Moodle, and find the classes you want to take, so that you can see how much work that class you want to take will be. The syllabi will not be available for every class, but it never hurts to check and see, as that past syllabi could really help you figure out your next schedule. Overall, picking classes should not be a frustrating and draining activity. Picking classes can be a lot of fun, due to all of the variety and what is out there to explore. Plus, if you follow all of these tips, picking your classes should be simple, leaving you with a Fall 2025 schedule that will work best for you. You can begin your search and planning now, so with that, we wish you good luck, and we know you are going to pick some fantastic classes.
