The costume may not say slutty when you purchase it, but I doubt Little Red Riding Hood was on her way to grandmas house with a basket of goodies and her yabose hanging out!)

Study Abroad continues to set records

35% of the junior class will have spent at least one semester abroad this year, equaling the record setting percentage of last year. This is a large jump from the 28% who ventured outside of Brandeis in the 04-05 academic year and the 22% who did so in 03-04.

Warhol portrait finally makes way to Rose Art Museum

For the first time on Brandeis University campus, Andy Warhols Ten Portraits of Jews of the Twentieth Century (1980) will be exhibited in its entirety. The Feldman familys donation of the 40 x 40 inch Louis Brandeis painting to the Rose Art Museum in honor of Brandeiss birthday completes the Roses collection.

University celebrates Louis’ 150th birthday

On Monday, November 13th the Brandeis community celebrated the 150th anniversary of Louis D. Brandeiss birthday. The Louis D. Brandeis Birthday Committee, chaired by President Jehuda Reinharz, organized a night featuring keynote speaker Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Chief Justice Margaret Marshall, as well as the unveiling of the recently-donated original Andy Warhol Louis Brandeis (1980) painting of Louis D. Brandeis.

Night of Broken Glass remembered

Thursday night at 8 p.m., students, faculty, and community members gathered at Wasserman Cinematheque to commemorate Kristallnacht, or the Night of Broken Glass, with an evening of poetry, monologues, and viewing of the movie The Power of Good, as well as a Students Taking Action Now in Darfur (STAND) presentation.

Locked-out students could face conduct referral

The Hoot has obtained a copy of a letter that several students received in their university mailboxes from the Department of Residence Life (Res. Life) last week, stating that the student had two documented lockouts and that Res. Life encourage[s] you to review your habits regarding keys and make any changes that will prevent repeated lockouts.

Volleyball takes ECAC championship by storm

After making it to the last round of the ECAC tournament, the Judges were able to pull an outstanding win over Colby-Sawyer College to win the ECAC championship crown. The Judges were the number one seeded team going into the competition and had earlier success that Wednesday against Framingham State and earlier that day as well. In the final match, the volleyball team won all three rounds of the game earning them the title. In the process Loraine Wingenbach '09 was named the tournament MVP for the Judges and individual standouts were prominent throughout the competition.

Smith smashes Women’s Soccer

A hard-fought season filled with ups and downs came to an end for the womens soccer team as they fell to number one seeded Smith 2-0 in the ECAC semifinals. In a season filled with close matches, it was only fitting that the season should end on one.

Snyder helps MSoccer take ECAC’s

On a rainy Sunday, the fans awaited the final countdown and at last, let out a cheer as the Brandeis Judges completed their season, toppling seventh ranked New England College 5-3 to take the ECAC Championship. For the first time since 1994, the Brandeis Judges were the ECAC Champions. The score was close and the game, like the weather, was sloppy and at times, ugly, but the Judges pulled through when it counted.

WBasketball Preview: Tips to greatness

With a mighty heave from Jaime Capra 08 and an unfortunate clank to show for it, Brandeiss season came to end there in that second round game against Bowdoin. It was an end to an unprecedented season in Brandeis sports an NCAA playoff birth, the first of its kind. Now that the season is about to commence, the Judges are raring and eager for another go round and they wont be satisfied with the UAAs. Nor does anyone else assume so with the Judges being ranked 15 in the nation by d3hoops.com and 16 in a Womens Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).

MSoccer wins 1-0;

In its first round of ECAC play, the fourth seeded mens soccer team overcame sloppy conditions and sloppy play to defeat fifth seed Plymouth State 1-0. It was a game that many agreed left a lot to be desired.

Gorenkoff scores in overtime, WSoccer wins 3-2

In a hard-fought match that saw leads change and rain pour, it was the Brandeis Judges that prevailed in the opening round of the ECACs, beating Rhode Island College 3-2 in overtime. It was a game in which sloppy play at times was matched and surpassed by sloppier conditions.

WVolleyball advances in ECAC

Making their first postseason appearance since Well, their first appearance under Coach Michelle Kim, the Judges justified their number one ECAC seeding with a 3-0 crushing of eighth-seeded Framingham State. It was important to start off strong following a 6th place finish in the UAA tournament last weekend, especially after being awarded the number one seed in the ECAC Tournament.
