It was an improvement over the mysterious 79-70 loss to Suffolk before Thanksgiving, when the Judges led in seemingly every stat category except the most important, the final score.

The Judges begin a 5-game road trip on a high note after squeaking out a 64-57 win over the Babson Beavers at Gosman Tuesday night. The Judges were as usual led by Steve DeLuca 08, who had 13 points as well as a career-high 14 boards.

The Judges shot a blistering 52 percent from the field in the first half, propelling them to a 30-24 lead at halftime. However, the Judges went cold from the field in the opening of the second half, only connecting on 2 of 11 attempts. Babson capitalized on this stretch, going on a 14-5 run.

The Judges answered with a 9-2 run of their own over the course of the next 2 minutes. They were led by none other than the aforementioned DeLuca, who tipped in a missed Kevin Olson 09 3 point attempt to give the Judges a 44-40 lead. That pivotal play combined with a Stephen Hill 08 lay-up and subsequent foul shot gave Brandeis a 51-46 lead with just over 5 and a half minutes remaining.

Florian Rexhepi 08 joined DeLuca as the only two Judges in double figures with 11 points, but it was the Brandeis bench that really made a difference, outscoring the Beavers (26-20). The Judges also showed improvement from the free throw line, converting on 12 of 16 tries.

Babson Forward Brian Parsons 06 had a game high 19 points to go along with 3 rebounds.
The Judges try to improve to 4-1 when they travel to Tufts tomorrow to take on the Jumbos.
