Men’s Soccer beats WPI

With 50 seconds left to go and the game knotted at one and at overtime number two, leading scorer Ben Premo ’09 scored on a feed by Kevin Murphy ’09 to give the Judges the 2-1 victory over hosts WPI.

The non-conference victory was Brandeis’s first road win of the season.

Murphy drew first blood 4:52 into the match, scoring on the assist from rookie forward Alexander Farr ’12. WPI though evened up the score later at the half as Mike

Ford knocked a shot from the right wing past Brandeis goalkeeper Sean O’Hare ’12. From there it would be over 73 minutes until Premo’s sixth goal of the year gave Brandeis the win.Brandeis outshot WPI 12-7 with six shots coming in the second half and also had more corner kicks 8-2.

However WPI goalkeeper Paul Moan kept his club in with three saves. O’Hare was also credited with three saves.

The win comes two days after two goals from Mike Silberstein ’10 paced the Judges in a 4-0 drubbing of Colby-Sawyer. Ben Premo picked up the first goal, his fifth of the season and Patrick Metelus ’10 had the third tally of the game. Brandeis outshot Colby-Sawyer 19-10, only two of them Sean O’Hare needed to bat aside.

Matt Lynch ’11 took over netminding for the final 18 minutes of the match. The Judges also had eight corner kicks in the match.

With the wins, Brandeis is now 5-1 for the season. Brandeis continues their road swing, paying a visit to Newbury College September 22.
