College students are more narcissistic than ever
A recent study conducted by five psychologists and posted by ABC claims that college students today are more narcissistic than their predecessors. This increase in self-centeredness among college students could potentially have a major negative impact on American society in the near future. Narcissists, according to the study, are more likely to cheat on their significant others, care less about others' opinions, and be more competitive. These characteristics can be postive when meeting new people or making a presentation, but negative when it comes to respecting others. Students interviewed about the survey were skeptical, claiming that though they are very active on campus, that does not necessarily make them self-centered. Others noted that it is better that students feel more important as opposed to experiencing depression.
Some people involved with the study noted that modern technology is a major proponent for narcissim, naming examples such as YouTube and MySpace, which both encourage individul expression in a public environment.
One hot potato
Recently in Rome, a woman came home from the grocery store and began peeling potatoes in order to cook a meal for her family when she noticed that one of the potatoes seemed different from the others. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a grenade from World War II. She immediately reported the incident to the police, who detonated it in a nearby park. Authorities speculate that the grenade was most likely shipped in from France.

According to an article by Jonathan Hayter, staring at a woman's breasts for 10 minutes a day can have the same effect as going to the gym for a 30 minute workout. Based on a study in which 200 men spent extensive time staring at women's breasts, the article claims that men who partake in such activity have lower blood pressure and a lower liklihood of a heart attack. Expected gains are a lifespan of around four to five years longer.
No more Paris for you
A recent article in Editor and Publisher states that, barring major news events, the Associated Press has imposed upon itself a ban from all articles involving Paris Hilton. The organization felt that it was publishing too many articles about the popular media figure that contained too little substance. Paris has appeared in AP reports an average of two times per week over the past year. Reactions varied within the AP newsrooms. Some reporters feel that putting a ban on her tampers with the integrity of the news the organization produces. Others expressed desires for a ban on North Korea as well. A few slips have been made since the introduction of the new policy.
