To acquire wisdom, one must observe

The Best Times to Be Alone

When your eyelids are heavy

Sleep breaking down the door

When was the last time I slept

When the knock on the door

Sounds like screaming

Leave me alone

When your stomach roils

You can’t stop sweating

I can’t stand throwing up

When your mom comes in

Despite you telling her to leave

She forces me to talk about anything

When you’re trapped

In the back of your mind

My hands aren’t mine

When your mind is tumbling

It all needs to be placed on a page

Maybe this will be good

When the world is too vivid

The sounds too far away

Can they even hear me

When your friends make plans

You can’t leave yourself out

Not after I’ve been so distant

When the thought of curling up

So tight you might disappear stays

So you open the door

Your cat bounds in

How I’ve missed you

So you aren’t so alone anymore

You fight every urge to close the door

I thought I forgot how to work the handle
