The 19th ranked Brandeis men’s tennis team fell to the 4th ranked Middlebury this past Saturday at Natick Racquet Club. The Judges suffered a 9-0 loss, moving their overall season record to 5-2.

The Judges dropped every match of the day to Middlebury, starting with tough losses in doubles action. Pair David Aizenberg ’20 and Anupreeth Coramutla ’21 dropped the first match of the day, 8-2, in the No. 1 spot. Jackson Kogan ’19 and Tyler Ng ’19 did not fare much better in the No. 2 spot, losing 8-3. The No. 3 spot saw the closest doubles contest of the day with Brandeis’ Nikhil Das ’21 and Rajan Vohra ’21 falling to their opponent by a score of 8-5.

In singles action, Brandeis could not manage a victory over Middlebury, although the Judges came close in the No. 3 and 4 spot matches. Kogan led off singles action in the No. 1 spot, dropping the match 4-6, 2-6. Coramutla dropped his match at No. 2 as well, by a score of 1-6, 0-6. Vohra gave an impressive performance in the No. 3 spot against his Middlebury opponent. Vohra dropped the first set before coming back in the second set for a 6-3 victory over his opponent. The matched ended in a third set super tiebreaker, resulting in a 8-10 loss for Vohra. Vohra, however, wasn’t the only one to put up a fight in Saturday’s defeat. Ng also dropped his match at No. 4 in a super tiebreaker. Ng won the first set 6-3, but dropped the second 4-6, before ultimately dropping the match in a third set 1-10.

The Brandeis men’s tennis team is back in action this weekend, with a home game on Friday against unranked Colby-Sawyer at 3 p.m. and another home match against Trinity College on Saturday at 10 a.m.
