Jaime Capra, a junior guard for the Brandeis University womens basketball team has been named the UAA player of the week, on January 22. This is the second time this season the New Jersey native has received the honor, while it also marks the fourth time in her career.
Capra averaged 20 points and seven rebounds a contest, along with three assists to help the Judges to an undefeated weekend. Capra led the Judges with a season high 25 points over Case Western Reserve University on January 19, and followed that up with another 15 in a victory over Emory. Impressively, Capra shot 60 percent from downtown going 6 for 10 over the weekend, making her accurate on over 45 percent for the entire season.
Capra has been consistent in putting up the points, averaging about 16 per contest this past season, and is tops in the conference from beyond the arc. She has given the Judges and coach Carol Simon great hope in their pursuit of another successful bid to reach the Division 3 Womens NCAA tournament, leading the Judges to a 13-2 record out of the gate.
