Thank you for writing to SSIS! Great question! To prepare for anal sex, some folks prefer to douche using enema bulbs and/or disposable water bottles, and others prefer not to and follow their normal hygienic routine instead. An upside to douching is that you may feel more confident in your cleanliness and have a more comfortable experience. However, it is not recommended to regularly douche since the anal lining is sensitive and consistent douching can lead to irritation. The decision to douche or not to douche is entirely up to the person.
When it comes to anal sex, it is recommended to start small & slow. Building up in terms of size with butt plugs, going slow and using longer-lasting, thicker lubes such as silicone and hybrid (the anus is not self-lubricating) can be optimal for a pleasurable experience.
