Since the last publication, the Women’s Soccer team has played four games. They came away from these four matches with two wins and two ties. Their current season record stands at 4-0-3 not having faced any conference opponents yet.
The Judges started off this four-game stint at Roger Williams University (RWU) in Bristol, Rhode Island on Sept. 8. The judges controlled the game right off the bat as they scored their first goal within five minutes of kickoff. Tanvi Raju ’27 scored this goal off of an assist from teammate Lacey Mbugua ’27. Yasla Ngoma ’27 scored the game-winner for the Judges in the 66th minute. This shot was the result of a poorly executed clearance by the RWU keeper. Though the RWU Hawks scored their first and only goal of the match in the 85th minute, the Judges came away with a 2-1 win on the road.
The Judges’ next game was set to be played on Sept. 9, however, that game was canceled due to the poor weather conditions.
On Sept. 12, the Judges hosted Clark University (CU) in a hard-fought match that concluded with a 0-0 tie. Despite this, the Judges out-shot CU 8-1 in the first half of the match and also produced several potential goal-scoring plays that either just missed the net or hit the post.
On the following Sunday, Sept. 17, the Judges played at Johnson & Wales University (JWU) in Providence, RI. In this game, Brandeis took the lead early on with a goal from Raju in the 12th minute of the game. Nearly 20 minutes later, though, the JWU Wildcats scored an equalizing point to tie the game 1-1. The game concluded with this score as neither team was able to successfully capitalize on their goal-scoring opportunities.
Most recently, the Judges hosted the Bridgewater State University (BSU) Bears in a match on Sept. 19. Though the Bears captured the lead early on off of a free-kick in the 12th minute, the Judges were able to bounce back and score two goals. The first goal for Brandeis was scored in the 65th minute off of an assist from Rachel Walter ’25 which provided Raju the opportunity to score the Judges’ first point of the game. The game-winner was scored with minimal time remaining in the game as it was in the 79th minute of the match. This goal was scored by Ali Pennella ’27 who scored off of a corner kick. The Judges came away from this match with the 2-1 win against the BSU Bears.
Looking ahead, the Judges will travel to Cambridge, Massachusetts to face Lesley University on Sept. 26.
