Sherman Dining Hall to Reopen March 16

On Tuesday, March 10, Susan Scannell, Associate Vice President of Campus Services, sent an email announcing that Sherman Dining Hall will reopen for non-Kosher dining on March 16. Meanwhile, Kosher dining options will remain offered in either the Faculty Club or The Stein depending on the day of the week.

According to Scanell, “The fire in Sherman caused significant damage throughout the dining hall and conference center, which requires extensive repairs, along with inspections and clearance from the City of Waltham, before we can resume full use of the building.”

Scanell further said that “Kosher dining will continue to be available at the Kosher Table in the Faculty Club for Meat Days (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) for the rest of the semester.” After Passover break, “The Stein will open on Tuesdays and Thursdays for Kosher Dairy Days for all meals, with seating available in both the Stein and the Feldberg Lounge.” On those days, the Faculty Club would be closed. Notably, Scanell did not specify when the regular menu for The Stein would be returning. The Hassenfeld Conference Center was to reopen on March 13, and students with upcoming events there were encouraged to contact University Events.

Until Sherman Hall reopens on March 16, “The additional dining location at the Faculty Club will remain in place offering daily Kosher, vegan, and vegetarian options.”
